1. To be men after God's own heart (Jeremiah 3:15).

2. To feed the flock with knowledge and understanding (Jeremiah 3:15; Jeremiah 23:4).

3. To know God and teach His law (Jeremiah 2:8).

4. To live free from sin.

5. To walk after things that profit.

6. To be sensitive and reasonable (Jeremiah 10:21).

7. To seekers of God (Jeremiah 10:21).

8. To shepherd the flock.

9. To protect and nourish the vineyard (Jeremiah 12:10).

10. To protect and gather the sheep (Jeremiah 23:1).

11. To visit the sheep (Jeremiah 23:2).

12. To comfort them in fear (Jeremiah 23:4).

13. To supply their needs.

14. To be morally clean (Jeremiah 23:14).

15. To be honest and truthful (Jeremiah 23:14,25).

16. To discourage evildoers (Jeremiah 23:14).

17. To turn from wickedness.

18. To speak for God (not self; Jeremiah 23:16).

19. To stand in God's counsel (Jeremiah 23:22).

20. To give God's words to the people.

21. To turn men from evil ways.

22. To be free from deceit (Jeremiah 23:26).

23. To cause people to remember God (Jeremiah 23:27).

24. To speak God's Word faithfully (Jeremiah 23:28).
